Classroom Game Tape
- I am beginning an action research project that builds on the idea of reflective practice from my TED Talk “3 Rules to Spark Learning.” The project involves running a live camera in one of my classes and then analyzing the footage to evaluate how different parts of the inquiry learning cycle played out. I will use the video to identify what went well, what did not, and where my own perceptions of the lesson differ from reality. By reviewing a full class period like “game tape” from a sporting event, I aim to highlight moments where strong pedagogy shifted, uncover patterns that are only visible when watching from an outside perspective, and reflect on instruction as an evolving craft. My goal is to share these annotated clips publicly, treating teaching as an iterative process and an art, while also giving other educators access to authentic classroom practice that is often hard to observe in the busy rhythm of schools. Assistive Technology
- Design for Social Good is a class I have been developing over the years, growing into a hands-on design lab where students build assistive technology for individuals with physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy or quadriplegia. The class began with MakeyMakey projects years ago, moved into Arduino Leonardo authentic controllers and hubs over the recent years, and now integrates the design and deployment of custom DIY switches for the Xbox Adaptive Controller into the curriculum semester. Students document and share their work through platforms like "Instructables" and "Makers Making Change", creating open-source resources for caregivers and communities. I am sharing the development of this class in the projects section because it is very much a work in progress and also something I feel a deep passion for.
